2022 RAM ProMaster Van Updates

The 2021 RAM ProMaster is one of the best vans in its class. But the 2022 successor brings a lot more to the table. While it doesn’t offer a radical change in exterior design, there are many notable changes inside. 

Configurations and Towing Capacity

The 2022 RAM ProMaster van is customizable, with several configurations available. Each new ProMaster van packs a transverse-mounted 3.6-liter V-6 engine. It is capable of 276 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. 

The front wheel of the 2022 RAM ProMaster uses a nine-speed automatic transmission. This is an upgrade over the predecessor’s six-speed offering. RAM says the automatic transmission provides better fuel efficiency and seamless gear changes. 

The 2022 RAM ProMaster has a final-drive ratio of 4.08, a big improvement from its six-speed sibling’s 3.86. Design-wise, customers can pick between two roof heights and three wheelbase lengths. 

The 2022 iteration of the RAM ProMaster van has a max tow rating of 6,910 pounds. This is complemented by a max payload rating of 4,680 pounds. 

Dashboard and Controls

The RAM ProMaster van includes new HVAC controls in place of the rotary knobs. A new panel sits below with switches for traction control, hazard lights, and more. The new shift lever on the left is more prominent, while the steering wheel adds new controls. Drivers will find a new instrument panel with options between 3.5-inch or 7-inch displays.

The 2022 RAM ProMaster features a 7-inch touch-screen display, replacing the older 5-inch infotainment system. Customers also have the option of a larger 10-inch screen for the dashboard. The built-in Uconnect5 software allows both infotainment systems to receive OTA (over-the-air) updates. 

Keyless entry made its way to the 2022 edition of the RAM ProMaster van. A push-start button and an electronic parking brake are also included. RAM offers a Crew Van package, which adds a second row of seats to accommodate up to three passengers. But it is only available with the cargo van option. 

Safety Features

The 2022 RAM ProMaster van brings more driver and passenger safety features. It packs a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go. Drivers will also welcome the addition of auto high-beam headlamps and the lane-keeping assist feature. The latter comes with a new electronic steering system. 

Device Charging

Drivers and passengers will benefit from two standard USB (USB-A) and two USB-C ports. The 2022 RAM ProMaster van also comes outfitted with a conventional outlet (115-volt) and a wireless device charger. This ensures simultaneous recharging of four to five devices at the same time.
